Our First Look At Joaquin Phoenix In The Joker Film

One of the strangest projects currently in production is the upcoming standalone Joker film that will star Joaquin Phoenix. With the film starting production it was only a matter of time before Phoenix was spotted on set. So with that said director Todd Phillips too to social media to give us our first look at what the clown prince of crime looked like in his early days.

Via his Instagram we find a make-up less Phoenix in very plain attire. In the caption section of the post we see just the name Arthur. In an earlier report it was said that this would be the name his character would take, his full name being Arthur Fleck.

The film’s synopsis states that “Under the direction of Todd Phillips, the film centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen.” On the big screen we have seen The Joker already be played by such actors like Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger and Jared Leto.

What a difference a few years make. This image had me thinking about about the day we got our first look at Jared Leto’s Joker for the Suicide Squad film. One was ridiculously over the top and now we have the opposite.

What are your thoughts on our first look at Arthur? Let us know in the comment section below!

Philips’ Joker film is set to drop in theaters sometime October 2019.
