Paramount Pictures’ Top Gun: Maverick Super Bowl Spot

Earlier today the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 54. Throughout the next few hours we have seen and will continue to see TV spots that were played during the game. One of those early spots was a trailer for Paramount Pictures’ Top Gun: Maverick, which you can check out above!

As we can see from the trailer above, Tom Cruise’s Maverick is shown to be going through a quite a few problems which include bad blood with the son of his deceased wingman, Nick “Goose” Bradshaw, Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw who is played by Miles Teller. Will these two be able to come together at some point? Also how will Maverick, thirty years later, be able to stay relevant in the ever changing world of fighter planes?

This film is the sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun which was directed by Tony Scott and produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer. This film was a massive success as it brought in $356 million worldwide off a $15 million budget. Below is the synopsis for the film.

Top Gun: Maverick
After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.”

Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.

This film is directed by Joseph Kosinski based on a script by Ehren Kruger Warren Singer and Christopher McQuarrie which is based off the characters created by Jim Cash & Jack Epps Jr. On board as executive producers are Tommy Harper, Chad Oman, Mike Stenson, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Cruise, McQuarrie, David Ellison.

Joining Cruise and Teller on the film are Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Charles Parnell, Bashir Salahuddin, Monica Barbaro, Jay Ellis, Danny Ramirez, Greg Tarzan Davis with Ed Harris. Reprising his role as “Iceman” will be Val Kilmer.

Top Gun is one of my favorite classic films and I look forward to seeing the action sequences on the big screen. Are you excited for Top Gun: Maverick? Let us know in the comment section below!
