It’s no secret that Paramount and Hasbro have had a profitable partnership. Say what you will about the franchise as a whole, but most of them have been beyond profitable for both parties. Even the latest and least successful outing, Transformers: The Last Knight managed to break $600 million worldwide (though that was quite the tumble from Age of Extinction’s $1.1 billion).
Recently, however, Hasbro seemed to take one step towards becoming a Marvel Studios of sorts, creating a production company of their own called Allspark Pictures. Would this mean that they would soon be going their own with with their non-Transformers, non-G.I. Joe brands?
Apparently not. According to Deadline, the company has just inked a deal with Paramount Pictures, and the duo will work to produce and distribute content based on their brands, in addition to original stories.
Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures and Allspark Animation will work alongside Paramount to develop and produce these films.
“Paramount has been a valuable partner of Hasbro’s for more than a decade, and we’re looking forward to taking our relationship to the next level,” Brian Goldner, Chairman and CEO, Hasbro, told the outlet. “Storytelling, in its many forms, is revolutionizing our business and differentiating Hasbro in all sectors where we operate. We look forward to collaborating with the talented team at Paramount to create powerful new stories for kids, fans and families globally.”
Paramount Pictures Chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos said:
“Hasbro has an enormous array of exceptional brands, so this expansion of our relationship is incredibly exciting. We look forward to working with Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis and the Hasbro and Allspark teams to create extraordinary film properties for all audiences.”
The actual investment each company will put into each project will vary from film to film, though Paramount will continue to act as distributor.
But this isn’t all. The team will also work together on TV programming.
