In the latest Taylor Sheridan television series, Landman a Latina makes a strong stamp. Played by the young actress, Paulina Chávez, a conflicted widow that keeps her head up against what appears to be wrong to the world.
The Sinopsis
Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, LANDMAN is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. Based on the notable 11-part podcast “Boomtown” from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly, the series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.
Paulina Chávez was born in El Paso, Texas in a household of parents from Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. While in elementary school she joined the drama class and later had acting lessons. Professionally she began in theaters and did television commercials. Later came short and independent films. In 2018 Chávez portrayed the young version of Kim Kardashian in the television series Scandal Made Me Famous. She is known for other projects like in Netflix’s series The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia, Fate: The Winx Saga and The Long Game. In March she will be seen in Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip with Eva Longoria, Cristo Fernández, Cheech Marin and Jesse Garcia.

Before the holiday break I was connected with Paulina Chávez via Zoom to talk about her participation in Landman. She expressed her excitement at getting to work with a great cast and what it means to be a part of the Taylor Sheridan project. Also to represent a Latina and a character that is strong and ballsy.
