There’s just something adorable about animals learning martial arts on screen. From Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies, the studios teamed up to bring a different story about a wimpy dog seeking samurai lessons in the upcoming hilarious animated film Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank.
Here is the synopsis:
A hard-on-his-luck hound Hank (Michael Cera) finds himself in a town full of cats who need a hero to defend them from a ruthless villain’s (Ricky Gervais) evil plot to wipe their village off the map. With help from a reluctant teacher (Samuel L. Jackson) to train him, our underdog must assume the role of town samurai and team up with the villagers to save the day. The only problem…cats hate dogs!
Also, the additional voice cast includes Mel Brooks, George Takei, Aasif Mandvi, Gabriel Iglesias, Djimon Hounsou, Michelle Yeoh, Kylie Kuioka, and Cathy Shim.

No doubt this animated film will find success if Kung Fu Panda is any indication. That film spawned more than three CGI-animated movies and three television series grossing more than $1.8 billion at the box office. And there are more films and television series on the way for this franchise.
For Paws of Fury, it’ll follow the same formula of adorable animals doing martial arts, a touching tale of enemies who must become friends, and an underdog saving a village full of cats. What is there not to love?
The animated film is in theaters on Friday, July 15.
The trailer and poster premiered earlier this week. Check them both out below and let us know what you think.
