Peacemaker Season 2 E04 Review – Good Backstory But Not As Good As Last Week

Here's my Peacemaker Season 2 E04 review and despite some good backstory, it wasn't as much fun as last week's Episode 3.

Here’s my Peacemaker Season 2 E04 review and despite some good backstory, it wasn’t as much fun as last week’s Episode 3. As always folks this is a SPOILER FREE review, so not getting deep into plot points.

What a really liked about Episode 4 is the backstory, which really helps to understand Chris background. There were some aspects of Season 1 I remained puzzled by, which this episode helps to answer. I won’t get into details but the flashbacks were for me the standout moment of the episode, short as they were. Also, there’s a simple brutality to this flashback which was actually quite powerful to me.

As for the main plot, well things continue as they have. Rick Flagg Sr. steps back into the ring after last week’s ‘catch up’ with his (deceased in main world) son in both worlds. We find out more about why Harcourt can’t get work. The questions are asked, how far she is willing to go?

Meanwhile the ‘Keystone Cops’ (they are terrible at their jobs) get set to make another attempt on Peacemaker’s portal. This time Red St. Wild in tow to ‘deal’ with the Eagly issue. I always enjoy seeing who Michael Rooker will play for James Gunn and this character is suitably nutso enough. Poor Economos is working extra hard this season in his unintended double agent role.

I guess from a critical standpoint the action scenes, few as they were just didn’t compare to what we got last week. If anything there’s a sense of wanting this episode to have more urgency and kinetic pacing. It seems we may have to wait for those moments down the line.

Overall, I had fun, I’m liking Season 2 and I liked Episode 4. So far, I don’t quite like it as much as Season 1, but that’s fine. The quality is still good enough to keep you entertained as we move towards a final not even the critics have seen yet. In fact, critics have only seen the first 5 Episodes, so we are only 1 episode behind what most outlets classify as a season 2 review.

GRADE: B-

Brilliant flashback that will disturb and inform you, but whilst everything else is decent, it’s nothing to write home about yet for me.

What did you think of Peacemaker Season 2 E04 and did you agree with my review? Thoughts below as always.
