Peacock Comedy Series Twisted Metal Adds Thomas Haden

Twisted Metal is gearing up to make its series debut on Peacock but first, it has to fill its cast! Previously the streamer had announced the series leads Anthony Mackie (who is also on the project as an executive producer) and Stephanie Beatriz. Today they are adding actor, Thomas Haden Church to the series. Who you should remember from Sideways, Divorce, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

According to the press release from Peacock, Church will play a character named Agent Stone. Here is his description:

A cold and unyielding post-apocalyptic highway patrolman who rules the roads with a silver tongue and a twisted iron fist, prosecuting even the smallest crimes with the harshest of judgements. Agent Stone will stop at nothing to bring law and order back to the Divided States of America, and will kill anyone in his path who defies his power.

Twisted Metal

Twisted Metal will have Michael Johnathan Smith as showrunner, executive producer and writer from Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Kitao Sakurai will executive produce and direct multiple episodes of the series. Will Arnett and Marc Forman from Electric Avenue secured the rights to the material and helped put the project together alongside Asad Qizibash and Carter Swan from PlayStation Productions. They will also executive produce.

Here is the description for Twisted Metal

A half-hour live-action TV series based on the classic PlayStation game series is a high-octane action-comedy. Based on an original take by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland). About a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life. But only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction. As well as other dangers of the open road. Including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.

Are you excited to see this series from a classic video game? Or would you prefer to pick up a control and battle? Currently, there is no release date for Twisted Metal.
