With the acquisition of the X-Men and the Fantastic Four by Disney, fans hope to see the characters reunite with their previously estranged Marvel family on the big screen as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Knowing Marvel and Kevin Feige, they are likely to be extremely careful and calculating with their choices of not only when to implement their newly acquired properties into their shared universe, but also who to cast.
One character the fans anxiously await the casting of is the Wolverine, who was played brilliantly for two decades by actor Hugh Jackman. Whoever steps into the role will have some really big shoes to fill, which makes the petition I’m about to inform you of all the more strange. A new petition on Change.org looks to put none other than Danny DeVito in the role. The petition reads as follows.
“The only man able to take the throne after Hugh Jackman. We believe that if Wolverine is to make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that the only man able to pull it off is Danny DeVito.”
If Kevin Feige became a super villain and this actually happened, it wouldn’t be Devito’s first role in the world of superheroes as he played the Penguin in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns. Personally, I would rather have a character of Devito’s by the name of Frank Reynolds take on the role of Wolverine, I think if nothing else, it would be interesting.
