AMC’s The Walking Dead was at one time one of the more compelling shows on television. Unfortunately, the last couple seasons have been anything but that, and have almost felt like a chore to watch. With many folks only continuing to watch because of the time they have invested in the show.

Having said that, the current season has been considerably better, at least in my humble opinion. Even taking into account the exits of  longtime stars Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohen, who have been a core part of the main group since at least Season 2. Currently on hiatus the show is set to debut the second half of Season 9 next month, and today photos from the premiere episode were released. The group known as The Whisperers who were revealed in the mid-season finale are sure to play a large part in the remainder of the season. A group made up of some truly disturbing individuals, I think their introduction is one of the factors that will help to keep the show afloat, and help this current season be an improvement of the previous two.

The Walking Dead returns Sunday February 10 on AMC.
