In the past few years, Nicolas Cage certainly has a wide-ranging selection of films he starred in. From supernatural to horror to even kung fu action, Cage landed into a mystery drama in Pig that he looks for the kidnappers of his beloved truffle pig.
Kid you not. But, nothing surprises anything about Nicolas Cage anymore.
Here’s the official synopsis for Pig:
A truffle hunter who lives alone in the Oregonian wilderness must return to his past in Portland in search for his beloved foraging pig after she is kidnapped.
The film also stars Alex Wolff. Michael Sarnoski directed and wrote the movie.

From the trailer alone, it doesn’t appear he goes John Wick in hunting for his best friend. However, it does seem like he is backtracking into his past as a culinary chef to connect the clues on who may steal a pig in the fine dining establishments.
For those who don’t understand, the truffle industry (wild mushrooms) is a competitive a lucrative business in the high-established fine dining restaurants. Some of these truffles can fetch thousands of dollars in the auction arenas. Most truffle hunters uses dogs to sniff out the best truffles in the woods. So, the perputrators didn’t kidnap a pig for pork and bacon, but for her talents to seek out truffles. No doubt—it’s definitely a culinary chef or businessman from his past.
In this end, the film is about a lonely man’s obsession to track down his pig. It’ll be interesting to see Nicolas Cage back to form in a dramatic role.
NEON releases the film in theaters on Friday, July 16.
