Pinocchio Trailer | The Live-Action Adaptation Ready For Disney+ Day

Pinocchio

Pinocchio was first released way back in 1940. This was the second animated feature film from Disney after their first success, “the one that started it all”, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. If you want to take it even further back, the film is based on the 1883 children’s book, The Adventures of Pinocchio by Italian author Carlo Collodi.  Now the beloved animated classic is returning as a live-action remake exclusively on Disney+.

In preparation for the release, Disney has dropped a trailer for Pinocchio that you can check out below!

My first impression of the trailer for Pinocchio is that it looks very much like the animated film, which is nice. We are not looking for a re-invention of the character or the story, just a good live-action version of the one we love. The puppet or real boy looks identical to the classic one we love.

This film is directed by Robert Zemeckis, the director of the classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit. It stars Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as the voice of Pinocchio and Geppetto is played by Tom Hanks. The Blue Fairy is played by Cynthia Erivo and Joseph Gordon-Levitt voices the fan favorite Jiminy Cricket. Luke Evans returns to another Disney film as the Coachman that operates the sinister Pleasure Island. Other voice actors include Lorraine Bracco and Keegan-Michael Key.

Here is the synopsis for the Disney+ Original Pinocchio

The live-action retelling of the beloved tale of a wooden puppet who embarks on a thrilling adventure to become a real boy. Tom Hanks stars as Geppetto, the wood carver who builds and treats Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) as if he were his own son. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Jiminy Cricket, who serves as Pinocchio’s guide as well as his “conscience”. Academy Award® nominee Cynthia Erivo is the Blue Fairy. Keegan-Michael Key is “Honest” John; Academy Award® nominee Lorraine Bracco is Sofia the Seagull, a new character. As well as Luke Evans is The Coachman. Also in the cast are Kyanne Lamaya as Fabiana and Jaquita Ta’Le as her marionette Sabina. Giuseppe Battiston as Stromboli and Lewin Lloyd as Lampwick.

Unfortunately, Pinocchio will not be available in theaters, only exclusively on September 8 on Disney+ as part of Disney+ Day.
