It may seem like common sense now, but it is very clear that Warner Bros. is really just throwing all sorts of talent and countless DC characters and seeing what really comes out of it all. There doesn’t seem to be a big master plan anymore other than them developing dozens of projects and moving forward with the ones that they feel are ready to go, for one reason or another.
It’s with that in mind that I wouldn’t be too surprised or hopeful for this latest piece of news. According to THR, Warner Bros. is working to develop the DC Comics superhero Plastic Man for the big screen. They are looking to make this a comedic action-adventure movie and have hired up-and-comer Amanda Idoko (who recently did work on the failed TV series The Mayor) to act as scribe for the flick.

As of right now, there is no filmmaker aboard, which really seems to emphasize that they are in very early stages of development. Of course, there is a possibility this one goes forward — DC’s willingness to put forward lesser known properties ahead of bigger name ones isn’t unprecedented — but given that there is a metric ton’s worth of projects, all this really says is that they are working on it at some early stage.
Plastic Man was originally published by Quality Comics way back in 1941 and didn’t join the DC family until 1956. He may not be incredibly popular but he has been a member of the Justice League.
