Playing Batman again was ‘ like riding a bike’ says Michael Keaton. Keaton is once again donning the cape and cowl for his return as Batman in The Flash. Keaton has been conducting online interviews for his new movie The Protege, and almost all the interviewers had a Batman question. The one in question is below from reporter Kevin McCarthy. Apart from the headline quote, Keaton also spoke about how his mind goes back to what a great risk Tim Burton and others took by casting him back in Batman 89‘.
"Like riding a bike!"
I asked Michael Keaton what it was like putting on the Batman suit again while filming THE FLASH. Plus, some memories of working with Tim Burton.
My brother @JakesTakes also followed up about the Batman suit so keep an eye out for his Keaton interview! pic.twitter.com/bMUqBVMzGW

Keaton kinda said the same in another interview with Jake Hamilton of Good Day Chicago, confirming,
“It was shockingly normal. It was weird. Like I went ‘Oh, oh yeah, that’s right.’ But then also you start to play scenes and lots of memories, a lot of interesting sense memories start to come back.”
Keaton was asked if he had got to say the iconic ‘I’m Batman’ line yet, but he declined to answer, wisely.

No doubt Keaton was one of the fan favorite Batman actors, meaning there’s serious excitement for The Flash. What is perhaps odd, is that the excitement around The Flash seems to be on both versions of Batman and not title character Barry Allen. Actually, that’s not odd at all, it’s probably expected. However, you do worry about the long term success of this Flash as a result.
I have to be honest and say Keaton was not my favorite Batman. That’s despite me being the perfect age in 1989 to see Batman and be blown away and become obsessed. I guess as time goes on, I still like Keaton, but the films are very dated. My personal favorite ever Batman thus far is Christian Bale (I know that’s not popular). In live-action that is anyway. Still I’m definitely as excited as everyone else to see Keaton back in the cape and cowl one more time.
