Pokémon: Let’s Go Trailer Shows Off Special Abilities And Battle Mechanics

In a couple months, gamers will be getting a brand-new entry in the Pokémon franchise — well, sort of. Ask any hardcore gamer, and they’ll likely be a bit disappointed that this year’s offering isn’t the core RPG experience we were promised. Instead, we’re getting some embellishment of Pokémon Go, except one that’s loosely inspired by Pokémon Yellow.

Now, Nintendo has released a brand-new trailer that shows off some extra gameplay mechanics. Just as you can in the original game, you’ll be able to utilize specific special abilities outside of battle to help you overcome specific obstacles. Nothing super crazy there, but unlike the older games, we’ll get some sweet animations to go along with them — including our character actually SURFING across water.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the new trailer showed off some of the battle mechanics. More specifically, it looks like you’ll be able to utilize the joycons to execute some special “Partner Power” mechanic, but it’s not clear what that means. Additionally, there will be exclusive battle moves to this games, like Pikachu’s “Splishy Splash” and Eevee’s “Buzzy Buzz,” among others.

Not sure this trailer will do much to convince hardcore gamers this is worth picking up, but perhaps it’ll entice the younger casual audience. But what do you think of this trailer? Let us know down below!
