Angelica Ross, star of the current smash FX hit Pose, will be adding another Ryan Murphy project to her growing resume: the upcoming ninth season of Murphy’s popular horror anthology American Horror Story: 1984. The next season will focus on the slasher horror genre. Ross will be joining Emma Roberts, Gus Kenworthy, and many of the reoccurring cast members of the series.
The news comes as Ross’ character Candy was [SPOILER] tragically killed off in the latest episode of Pose. Shortly after the airing of the episode, Murphy took to his Instagram to praise the actress and deliver the news:
“Last night’s episode of Pose required us all to dig deep — @janetmock as writer, myself as writer and director, but most of all our incredible leading ladies. I must applaud @angelicaross for her tour de force of a performance as Candy Abundance Ferocity. It has been a gift to watch her blossom as a true star and undeniable talent. Though she will always be our Candy, and our show suffers this incredible loss, I am elated that the world will get much more Angelica. She is joining the American Horror Story family in another unforgettable role. Congrats Angelica for making history, leaping from #PoseFX to #AHS1984. Welcome to the #AHS family!”

Ross will be jumping from Murphy’s new massive hit to his long-running franchise, which focuses on a different story and plot with every new season while featuring a majority of the same cast members playing different roles. Ross will be joining an eclectic, massively-talented cast that has featured the likes of Dylan McDermott, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Zachary Quinto, Joseph Fiennes, Connie Britton, Matt Bomer, Lady Gaga, and Michael Chiklis.
Pose airs Tuesday nights on FX. American Horror Story: 1984 is set to premiere on FX this September.
