Preview For This Week’s Bloodshot Rising Spirit #1 From Valiant Entertainment

Since Valiant Entertainment’s The Valiant event that started in December of 2014, in my opinion, no character in the Valiant Universe has seen more growth than Bloodshot. The event was written by Jeff Lemire who continued with the character with Bloodshot: Reborn, Bloodshot: U.S.A. and Bloodshot: Salvation. With the Bloodshot film coming soon from Sony Pictures, this week Valiant Entertainment is looking to take us back to the very beginning with their new book Bloodshot Rising Spirit #1.

This new title is written by Lonnie Nadler & Zac Thompson, with artwork by Ken Lashley, inks by Ryan Winn and colors by Diego Rodriguez. This new title is going to take us way back to when Bloodshot was created. What makes this title very interesting is that in this book we are supposed to get answers about who Bloodshot really was before he became a living weapon. You can check out the covers and preview pages below!

I’ve been a very big fan of all the work that Lemire has done on this title, so picking up a Bloodshot book that is going to go back to when he was a relentless weapon with a new creative team is a difficult for me to accept. But at the same time, like Ray Garrison had been looking for the answers about his past before Bloodshot, I am very interested to see where he came from.

This first issue puts us right into the world of Angelo Mortalli, who is looking to become a made man in order to prove to his girlfriend that he isn’t a loser. But in order to reach that status he is going to have to prove himself and complete an assignment. Unfortunately his assignment does not go well and it lands him in prison leading him to make a deal that turns him into the leaving weapon, Bloodshot. To find out what happens next you’ll have to pick up the first issue of Bloodshot Rising Spirit this week.

Valiant Entertainment’s Bloodshot Rising Spirit #1 hits comic book shops this Wednesday, November 14th.
