Our favorite soccer coach Ted Lasso is coming back for another season to guide the AFC Richmond back to the Premiere League. In one of the surprising stories of 2020 Apple TV+ series based off an old NBC promo for soccer has turned into the darling show for the streaming service. The show garnered such a positive response in it’s first episodes that it was green-lit for a second season. On top of that the response at the end of the first season gave the show an impressive green-lit for a third season before the second season started production.
If you haven’t watched the final episode then this is your spoiler warning…..

AFC Richmond loses the last match of the season to send the club to relegation. With the sad reality that AFC Richmond didn’t avoid relegation Ted Lasso changes his goal to get back into the Premiere League and then “Win the whole fucking thing!”
We can only assume that season 2 will include a majority of the same cast and crew back for filming. To keep the hype of the show going it was assumed early on that production would begin as fast as possible once a story was fleshed out. According to this weeks production list from FTIA the second season of Ted Lasso will start production on January 4th in London. This is great news with the hope that the second season will premiere in the later part of 2021.
The major issue will of course be the safety of the cast and crew because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Barring any major setbacks we should see Jason Sudeikis back as the lovable Ted Lasso this year. Hopefully this season Ted will finally understand what offsides is.
