Production Halts on Bad Boys Spin Off L.A.’s Finest

Production on the new Bad Boys spin-off L.A.’s Finest has halted in the wake of a set accident. L.A.’s Finest co-showrunners Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier were injured when a stunt went wrong on Thursday. The mishap sent both Margolis and Sonnier to hospitals in Los Angeles. The accident happened when a stunt vehicle went awry and smashed into video village on set, where groups crowd around screens to see the live footage.

L.A.’s Finest stars Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba. The television series is a spin-off out of the Michael Bay-directed Bad Boys films starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Gabrielle Union is reprising her as the character Syd from Bad Boys II, who was an undercover DEA agent and the sister of Lawrence’s character Marcus Burnett.

A statement from Sony Pictures Television President Jeff Frost and co-Presidents Chris Parnell and Jason Clodfelter read “Our hearts go out to our SPT family members who were injured and we pray for a full recovery.”

In wake of the accident Spectrum’s head of originals Katherine Pope has released a statement that read “We are saddened by this incident and send our most heartfelt wishes to our two beloved crew members, hoping their recovery is both swift and complete.”

Ths show was expected to wrap its season this past weekend, and it’s unclear when the last couple days will be picked up.

L.A.’s Finest is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Charter. Jerry Bruckheimer TV, 2.0 Entertainment, and Primary Wave. The series is executive produced by Brandon Sonnier, Brandon Margolis, Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, Pam Veasey, Jeff Gaspin, Jeff Morrone, Doug Belgrad, Gabrielle Union, Jessica Alba, and Anton Cropper. It will air this May on Spectrum.
