Quibi – Founders Of New Short-Form Video Platform Say Its Ready To Launch Despite State Of The World

Quibi, what funny word, am I right? Are any you readers out there familiar with this new short-form video platform? Founded by Meg Whitman and Jeffrey Katzenberg, the project has been in the works since late 2018 and is set to make its debut on April 6. Quibi is short for quick bites, which is exactly the idea behind the platform, which intends to serve up content in 10 -minute segments.

They seem to have everything from reality shows to scripted content, as well as news. Big names such as Zac Efron, and Steven Spielberg. Both of who are producing content for the platform. With nearly every other major film and television production being put on hiatus, this may seem like a bad time to launch a project of this nature. However, Whitman seems to have little doubt the current state of the world will affect Quibi‘s debut. Check out what she had to say during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter below.

“We have every confidence we’re going to be able to launch. We have the right content to launch, the technology is ready, our messaging has been out in the market. We’re ready to go.”

With any launch, it’s hard to predict how viewers will react as Whitman says below.

“I don’t think we know how people will respond. It depends on what people are doing at home, how many people are at home. This situation is different every day.”

I’ll give it a shot. These days most Youtube videos longer than 10 minutes almost seems like a chore to watch, so this very well could be the content provider we didn’t know we wanted. The company should have something of a captive audience, as most of us will likely be inside our houses, waiting for life to return back to normal.
