It’s official, Rampage is the first film to feel the effect of Avengers: Infinity War moving from May 4 to April 27, 2018.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Rampage, Dwayne Johnson’s next film (the one with the big monkey, not the one where he jumps between skyscrapers), has moved from a release date of April 20 to April 13, 2018.
Insiders told THR that Rampage‘s producers wanted to preserve their two week cushion before Infinity War. This sets the film to release alongside Borg vs. McEnroe, The Miracle Season, Overboard, and Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero. So, the Rock will be just fine.
Surely NOT moving from it’s similar 4/20 release date is Super Troopers 2… I assume. Any other release date for that film would be silly.

Only time will tell if Marvel Studios’ move, which caused this move, sends any more ripples down the release date pipeline.
Below is the official synopsis for Rampage:
“Primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry mutates this gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered animals. As these newly created alpha predators tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.”
Do you think Rampage would have lost much money to Infinity War in its second weekend? I know the Rock can make for huge openings, but this one looks like a dud that would fizzle out after one weekend anyway… or is it just me? Let us know in the comment section below.
