According to a new report from Variety, Rangers of the New Republic is not in active development. Now many outlets are running this story as if the show has been canned following the firing of Gina Carano, who we think was set to appear. However, I am not so sure about that.
The last we heard from our sources around Rangers, they were going to use Hera Syndulla in place of Cara Dune. That report which I know to be 100% genuine at the time is linked below. Since then we have heard no updates and then this report from Variety comes out and you begin to wonder? Is it possible Rangers of the New Republic has been permanently shelved? Sure, however that’s not the only possible conclusion to draw here. The last thing I did hear was that of all the shows announced by Lucasfilm so far, Rangers was at the back of the queue. I don’t know if that was because of the Carano situation though, or just the way it was always planned?

If something has changed, we will endeavor to find out for you. However, until we hear more either way, I’d say stay frosty on this on for now. It’s quite possible that the retooling of Rangers has pushed the show out a little farther for now. Don’t get me wrong, the show could be canned completely, but that would surely present other issues? Remember that Mando, Ahsoka, Book of Boba Fett, and Rangers were all supposed to connect with one another and lead towards an event. If Rangers has been shelved then the plans for how these shows connect together must also be changed, no?
I find it hard to believe that without Carano Rangers is unworkable. But then who can say for sure right now? If we hear anything more concrete we will share it. Until then, all we can do is speculate what this really means? What do you think of this news that Rangers of the New Republic is not in active development right now? As always, leave any thoughts below. Oh, and we will be discussing this story on The Cantina which is going out live today, so check that out.
