Raya and the Last Dragon Trailer Showcases Disney’s Next Animated Adventure

Raya and the Last Dragon

Raya and the Last Dragon Official Disney Trailer

You have to admit that Walt Disney Animation Studios has hit some home runs with their feature films like Frozen and Moana. These included characters, storytelling, and songs that have stayed in the minds of kids for years. There was even a joke at one point that parents that were annoyed with “Let it Go”, had it replaced with “Your Welcome” and… well your welcome.

Today Disney has given us our first trailer at one of their next adventures, Raya and the Last Dragon. This film features the voice of Kelly Marie Tran as the voice of the lead character Raya. She is a lone warrior whose mission is to track down the legendary last dragon. She needs it to try and save Kumandra and unite its lands. You can check it out below along with its poster and some shots of the film Disney has released.

Here is the official synopsis for Raya and the Last Dragon:
Long ago, in the fantasy world of Kumandra, humans, and dragons lived together in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people.

However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than a dragon to save the world—it’s going to take trust and teamwork as well. From directors Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada, co-directors Paul Briggs and John Ripa, producers Osnat Shurer and Peter Del Vecho, and featuring the voices of Kelly Marie Tran as Raya and Awkwafina as the last dragon Sisu, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Raya and the Last Dragon” opens in U.S. theaters on March 12, 2021.

I really enjoyed this trailer especially because of its dark tones in it that your not used to seeing in a Disney animated feature. I find Awkwafina to be funny, so the fact she is voicing the dragon I think is great. It will be interesting to see if this is going to have that same impact as some of their previous films. Which has me thinking will we see the next iconic Disney song?
