The latest Barside Buzz is that RDJ rumored for a Secret Wars return as Tony Stark. There have been some rumblings around this return and they were backed by insider MTTSH who has a pretty good hit rate for Marvel scoops. Check it out.

Now, there will be some mixed reactions to this news if it ends up panning out. On one hand you’ll have a group of fans who are wetting themselves over Tony’s return. You’ll also have those uncomfortable with the idea given the powerful ending Stark had. There is of course a third option where you are somewhere between the two.
For me, it was always a matter of when, not if. I’ll say the same for Chris Evans Captain America. I’ve always said I’d welcome Evans back in another decade for an Old Man Cap story. Equally I’ve always said that if RDJ returns in anyway, it has to be in a way that does not demean his sacrifice in Endgame. However I always figured it would happen one day.
Arguably, Secret Wars could be the perfect place to pull that off. If Secret Wars marks the end of the Multiverse Saga then it could in fact be the last chance to go for it, and have it make sense. Plus, there’s no denying that marketability of Secret Wars would go through the roof if Downey Jr. was involved.

The rumors buzzing around now are that Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man and maybe even Andrew Garfield as well could all come back for this huge event movie. I’m not against any of these rumors being true. I mean, this is Secret Wars, and the end of the Multiverse Saga. With the others I mentioned we also know they’d be willing. All have appeared, or agreed to appear in MCU movies already.
The only caveat I would have, is that after Secret Wars, the Multiverse needs to be put to bed. No more Maguire, Jackman, Garfield or anyone else. Unless it’s set in an alt world like the SSMU, the Sony’s Super Morbin Universe, or is it something to do with Spider-Man, I forget? However, it’s the Morbin Universe to me. As for RDJ, I’m in, if it’s one-off deal. If Secret Wars is the place, then so be it, but don’t do the same thing for the finale of whatever comes next. Oh, and don’t bring back Cap, leave him for the next time, and let Evans age up a bit.
