Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer 3 Shows Off A Dying Wild, Wild West

Nearly a decade ago, Rockstar released Red Dead Redemption, the second game in the Red Dead franchise, but easily a dramatic step up from its predecessor, Red Dead Revolver, which was a clunkier, more linear take on the Spaghetti Western concept. Such a big hit was Red Dead Redemption that it kind of makes you wonder where all the Western open world games are.

Well, have no fear, because Red Dead Redemption 2 will be hitting consoles this coming October. Rockstar Games has just released a brand-new trailer for the upcoming sequel, and if you’re a fan of well-made Western films, this one may whet your appetite, even if it is a game. There’s no doubt that they are not skimping on the filmmaking aspect of this game, and I can only hope that the gameplay matches the overall look.

Below is the official synopsis for Red Dead Redemption 2:

“America, 1899. The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed.

After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.”
