If I cast aside all the cynicism that’s developed over the course of the past year, even I have to admit that all the trailers and TV spots have been promising for Solo: A Star Wars Story. While we haven’t had a chance to see much of Solo and Lando actually being Lando and Solo, the world we’re seeing is textured, violent, and dangerous. It is very much what I would imagine an old west interpretation of Star Wars.

A new TV spot for the film further drives all that home with all the action and settings on display, and this reminds me all the more of why I loved the idea of Han Solo as a kid…now we only have to hope that actor Alden Ehrenreich is able to do the impossible — match Harrison Ford’s performance in terms of sheer charisma. Also of note in this spot: Jon Favreau says wookiee weird.
