Red Sonja Gets Its New Director After Bryan Singer Was Let Go

I’ve been told it’s an open secret in Hollywood that sexual harassment, assault, and quid pro quo are common. It seems that inappropriate behaviors are permitted or accepted in order to keep or get jobs within the industry and to get roles in television and films. It’s a terrible situation, and director Bryan Singer has found himself in the middle of it. Singer has had multiple accusations made against him over his recent career dating back quite a long way and found himself relieved of several directing jobs including the upcoming Red Sonja reboot.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Transparent creator Jill Soloway will take over not just the director’s chair, but also writing responsibilities too. This comes after a long road to production for the property started back in 2008 with Robert Rodriguez and Rose McGowan. They made a big announcement about the film at San Diego Comic-Con but eventually fell off the project. It has spent a figurative eternity in development hell before finally gaining traction just to have the rug pulled out by the Singer issue.

Not much is known about the direction of the project but it’s hard to get excited. Especially after seeing Hollywood fail at rebooting Conan The Barbarian.
