The original Space Jam was a fun movie when I was a kid. I was never a big basketball fan in general, I prefer Hockey, but I loved the classic Looney Tunes and respected the talent of the athletes and of course, admired the greatness of Michael Jordan. Years ago it was rumored that Space Jam 2 was in the works and that modern superstar Lebron James would be the central figure for the film. However, due to conflicts of interests with sponsorships and endorsements, there was trouble filling out the rest of the NBA roster for the film. All of that seems to be settled now, partially thanks to James himself, and now we have a ball game. (Do they say that in Basketball?)
It’s being reported that Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Chris Paul, and Klay Thompson are all set to play in the film. Also, the film will bring on WNBA stars Diana Taurasi and Nneka and Chiney Ogwumike.
The upcoming sequel will be directed by Terance Nance and produced by Ryan Coogler, who also co-wrote the script with Sev Ohanian. The Film is currently expected to be released July 16th, 2021
