Is a Venom-Spider-Man crossover inevitable? Should we have ever had to even consider a Venom-Spider-Man crossover is what I would say? Venom without Spider-Man is to me like having Joker with no Batman – ok bad choice. Venom without Spider-Man is like Reverse Flash without The Flash, it doesn’t work. Therefore to get back to our original question, is a Venom-Spider-Man crossover inevitable? In my opinion, you betcha.

Currently Venom and Spider-Man don’t strictly exist in the same Universe. However with all we know about Spider-Man 3, Venom making an appearance would be the least crazy prospect. I’m not saying I think Venom will show up in Spider-Man 3, I just would not be surprised. However, even if there is no Venom in Spider-Man 3, it’s coming eventually. So just as a reminder here is how Tom Holland reacted to a question about a Venom-Spider-Man crossover in June this year.

Remember this was after the whole Sony and Marvel fall out and make back up situation. Holland is not the best at hiding facial expressions and this one tells a story. It’s like I and many other LRMers have been saying for a long time. The Spider-Verse, Spider-Man 3 etc, is all leading up to Tom Holland going back to Sony. Kyle Malone has discussed this loads on LRMornings as well. This is a very real fear that both Kyle and I have for this eventuality. All this recent talk of so many old characters returning for Spider-Man 3, well it just feels like a big set up. The climax of that set up is we are supposed to be pumped about Holland anchoring a Sony led Spider-Man Universe. I’m not sure that will ever get me excited, and I hope I’m wrong.
Just remember when Tom Holland said she could not discuss a Venom-Spider-Man Crossover for legal reasons.
