Welcome to Jumanji! Those are the words of the NPC Nigel greets you when you enter the world of Jumanji, in which is played by New Zealander Rhys Darby.
Darby returns in the sequel Jumanji: The Next Level that unites the entire cast of Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan and Nick Jonas. They are joined by Awkwafina, Alex Wolff, Danny DeVito and Danny Glover for the second go-around.
Here’s the synopsis:
In Jumanji: The Next Level, the gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they expect. The players will have to brave parts unknown and unexplored from the arid deserts to the snowy mountains, in order to escape the world’s most dangerous game.
Darby plays Nigel, the explorer who provides the introduction and conclusion to the gamer for the heroes. LRM Online sat down with Rhys Darby to discuss his experience in returning to the world of Jumanji. We even touched upon the music video he created for the promotion of the movie.
He is best known for playing Murray in Flight of the Conchords. As a standup comedian, he appeared in notable comedies over the years, including Yes Man, Pirate Radio and What We Do in the Shadows.
