Were you one of the many Rian Johnson fans who loved films like Brick and Looper but absolutely abhorred Star Wars: The Last Jedi? Well, this news may be right for you, as it means the filmmaker will be headed back to his dark mystery roots.

According to Deadline, studios will be bidding on a new feature film called Knives Out. This project features Rian Johnson as co-writer and director and actor Daniel Craig as the star. Co-writing the script with Johnson is producing partner Ram Bergman. The film is being described as a contemporary murder mystery stylized as a classic whodunnit, and in it, Craig will be playing a detective assigned to crack the case.

This will be the film that Johnson makes to help recharge his creative juices before jumping into this trilogy of Star Wars films — the first of which he will be writing and directing. While the auction itself hasn’t started yet, the outlet expects it to be quite the fevered one between major buyers.

Apparently, Johnson has been a huge fan of legendary murder mystery author Agatha Christie, and has been formulating a way to make his own murder mystery for the past decade. This current script was written over the summer, and interestingly enough, Boyle’s departure from Bond 25 allowed him to pursue Craig — which seemingly confirms that the film will be delayed.

“I have been a huge fan and always wanted to work with him and as I worked on the script, trying to get it right, Ram and I were wringing our hands over who could be the detective,” Johnson said. “Then, serendipitously, we heard Daniel might have a small window, and it worked out. He’s an actor of extraordinary range, and we are looking forward to the fun of finding that modern detective, and collaborating with Daniel on creating a new Poirot.”
