White Boy Rick: Richie Merritt and Bel Powley on 1980s Detroit, Clothes and Accent

White Boy Rick has his attitude, clothes and swagger.

Based on the true story, White Boy Rick is the story of Richard Wershe Jr., who became an undercover informant for the FBI during the 1980s. He eventually was arrested for drug-trafficking and sentenced to life in prison.

Richie Merritt makes his extraordinary debut was Richard Wershe Jr. He is supported by an incredible cast with Matthew McConaughey and Bel Powley.

LRM’s special correspondent Derrick Sante sat down Richie Merritt and Bel Powley at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this week. They talked about Detroit, the fashion, the attitudes, Wershe’s father and most importantly—Matthew McConaughey.

White Boy Rick is out in theaters today.
