Robert De Niro And Shia LaBeouf To Star In Crime Drama ‘After Exile’

It looks like Robert De Niro and Shia LaBeouf will be working together on a crime drama film based on true events titled, After Exile. According to Deadline, the film is to be directed by Joshua Michael Stern who also helmed Jobs, which starred Ashton Kutcher and the EPIX series Graves. After Exile is based on a script by Anthony Thorne and Michael Tovo. It’s being produced by Thorne and Steve Snyder of Pacific Shore Films, which is backing the film.

Here is the description of After Exile:

After Exile is the story of Mike Delaney (LaBeouf) who, after being released from prison for killing an innocent man after a violent robbery, must re-enter his old life where he and his ex-criminal father (De Niro) attempt to save his younger brother from a life of drugs and crime. The drama is about the difficult trajectory toward forgiveness and redemption. De Niro will play Ted Delaney, an ex-con who lost his wife years ago and now suffers from alcoholism and guilt. All he has left is the instinct to save his two sons from the dark and destructive paths they are on.

Filming for this film is scheduled to begin sometime in October in Philadelphia. In the meantime, both De Niro and LaBeouf have several films coming out this fall. LaBeouf can be currently seen in Peanut Butter Falcon. He will also star in the acclaimed Sundance film titled Honey Boy that he wrote and is based on his rough road as a child star. De Niro will be reuniting with Martin Scorsese, Joe Pesci, Harvey Keitel, and Al Pacino in the upcoming Netflix film, The Irishman, in which De Niro is also co-producer. Also, let’s not forget that he will also be part of the cast of Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix.

This looks like a very interesting film and I look forward to hearing more about it as it is produced. Are you interested in a crime drama starring De Niro and LaBeouf? Let us know in the comment section below!
