Robert Pattinson Explores The Mind Of Bruce Wayne

If you are a Batman fan then chances are you have read, or at least heard of, Dr. Travis Langley’s Batman and Psychology: A Dark and Stormy Knight. If not, I would highly recommend it. In his book, Dr. Langley teaches psychology through analyzing the Dark Knight. Yes, we have been able to see how PTSD transformed Bruce Wayne into Batman, but to what extent? The trailer for The Batman looks amazing and appears to be grounded in reality. With this idea, Robert Pattison suggests that he will be exploring the mind of Bruce Wayne.

MovieWeb reports that Pattinson is giving careful consideration to his role. Yes, most individuals focus on Batman, but we can’t do so until we have a developed Bruce Wayne. The actor shares his thought process while diving deep into the pain-filled mind of Bruce Wayne:

“I look first at the character and what I have to do with it, how I’m going to have to invent nuances in this shell, making it more complex, more complex all the time. Batman is a role in which I have to learn how to play ambiguity better. It’s out of the question to interpret a character of a single color. It’s beautiful, people who seem to live in two states at the same time.”

We know we will be getting a younger Bruce/Batman who is earlier in his career. Pattinson seems to acknowledge that this is a character dealing with traumatic loss as well as a corrupt, decaying city. The actor looks to balance Bruce processing his circumstances while emerging as the hero the city needs.

I am glad this is an approach Pattinson is focusing on. We have seen the aged, war-torn Batman from Zack Snyder’s vision. Although I enjoyed that Nolan early psychological path, it looks as if fans may get an even stronger focus on the psychology of Bruce Wayne. We can see from the trailer how distraught he looks. Having a Wayne/Batman who is battling his own demons while feeling the personal pressure of saving a city that The Riddler begins creating even more havoc in exacerbates the issues. How will he handle these pressures? Only time will tell. Until then, I know it is a divided camp, but I’m giving Pattinson a chance.

What are your thoughts? Are you glad Pattison will be exploring the mind of Bruce Wayne? Do you think this approach will succeed? Are you willing to give Pattinson a chance? Leave your thoughts in the usual spot, and thanks for reading!
