A couple of weeks ago we were all excited (well some of us still are) for the first look we got of Matt Reeves’ The Batman. This was the closing panel for the DC FanDome event. Part of what made this great is that for a day a lot of us were so immersed in the announcements and looking ahead that it distracted us from the now. The now that includes the pandemic that continues to take lives and keep our normal routines on hold.

Then we went back to reality and realized that this still has sometime before it goes away. For example, yesterday Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson revealed that he and his wife tested positive for COVID. Today we have another high profile case that affects an entire production.
First reported by Vanity Fair, the filming for The Batman has been halted after only two days of work at the studios outside of London. The reason? Robert Pattinson, the masked vigilante himself has tested positive for the coronavirus. The production had been shut down since back in March when the lockdown orders first hit.
Warner Bros. did not make any comments on anyone’s heath but they did put out a statement. It’s also noteworthy to mention that at this time that Robert Pattinson or his representative has not released any comment on the matter.
Here is the statement from Warner Bros.:
“A member of The Batman production has tested positive for Covid-19 and is isolating in accordance with established protocols. Filming is temporarily paused.”

Well, all I can say is get used to it people, this is something that is going to commonly happen in all parts of entertainment including films, television shows, and sports. I look forward to seeing what Pattison says about his experience with coronavirus. Also, I wonder how much this will affect the production schedule as I can’t imagine the number of people that now have to wait for Pattinson to be cleared. The moral of the story is to stay safe everyone! You never know how your action can affect others or in this case a whole film crew.
How long do you think until The Batman resumes production? Let us know in the comment section below!
Currently, Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Batman is scheduled for a 2021 release.
