The writer and filmmaker Rodrigo García brings us the new family story, Raymond & Ray. A story of an unexpected family event that brings all the unexpected surprises with humor.
The Synopsis
“Raymond & Ray” follows half-brothers Raymond (Ewan McGregor, “Moulin Rouge!”) and Ray (Ethan Hawke, “The Black Phone”) who have lived in the shadow of a terrible father. Somehow, they still each have a sense of humor, and his funeral is a chance for them to reinvent themselves. There’s anger, there’s pain, there’s folly, there might be love, and there’s definitely gravedigging.
Rodrigo García was born with a great imagination to create great stories being the son of the late Colombian Nobel-winner Gabriel García Márquez. Some of his work as a director has been seen in Nine Lives, Mother and Child and Albert Nobbs. He has also worked on television series like HBO’s Six Feet Under and In Treatment, Blue, and Five Points among others. One of his recent projects was Four Good Days starring Mila Kunis and Glenn Close.

With the upcoming release of Ray & Raymond I was connected with Rodrigo García via Zoom to talk about the making of the film. García shared how he comes up with these stories as a writer and the dynamic between the two characters that are very opposite. In addition to the cast’s ability to add humor. I of course had to once more mention the anticipated wait of One Hundred Years of Solitude.
Raymond & Ray will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on October 21, 2022
