Kelly Marie Tran, Rose Tico actress would return to Star Wars she says. Tran played Rose in both The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, both are movies I don’t care for. Tran received a lot of online abuse for her portrayal of Rose, enough that she had to leave social media. That’s wrong on all levels, and personally I think Tran is a good actress. However, I did not care for the character of Rose at all. It would be wrong for me to say I hope to see the character back in any capacity, because I’d be lying.
Tran spoke to Collider about her upcoming role in Monsterland. However here is what she had to say about reprising Rose Tico. In December 2019, director Jon M. Chu threw his hat into the ring for making a Disney+ Rose Tico series. Would Tran be on board?
“He’s so cool. I don’t know. I honestly don’t know. It’s so strange. I had so much fun being in that world but I feel like the pieces would have to fall into a perfect little puzzle and everything would have to feel like it’s the right time and the right moment and the right story, like with any other project. But I don’t know.”

Of all the interesting stories that could be told on Disney+ from Star Wars, Rose Tico is low on the list. Actually, Rose Tico is close to the bottom for me, somewhere above Jar Jar Binks, and behind Stormtrooper extra number 5. In fact, I’ll go one further. Whilst Rose Tico was one of the least interesting characters in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, I don’t want to see any of them back. I just want to forget that mess of a trilogy ever existed. No interest in seeing more Poe, more Finn, or even anymore of Rey. Whilst it would never happen, I’d gladly take that sequel trilogy being erased from memory, or being remade. The thing that makes me most angry about the sequel trilogy is the way it lessens and cheapens the ending of Return of the Jedi.
I’m excited to see how The Mandalorian will play out, but I have no interest in seeing the characters from the sequel trilogy ever again. It’s time to let the past die, kill it if you have to.
