It’s pretty murky on what’s going for “Escape from New York.â€
The remake of “Escape from New York†has been in pre-production for quite some time now with several actors rumored to be attached to play Snake Plissken.
Now Starlog reported it has a short list of actors who may play the coveted role of Snake.
According to their source, Silver Pictures narrowed the candidates to three actors: Charlie Hunnam (“Sons of Anarchyâ€), Jon Bernthal (“The Walking Deadâ€) and Dan Stevens (“The Guestâ€).
Of course, Hunnam is the top contender for the role, but he may be busy with “Pacific Rim 2.â€
The site also cautioned to take the news with a grain of salt until official news has been made. That source indicated the offer will be made in “any day now,†but none of the three actors have read for the role.
Starlog provided more details for the film that it will be “more team-based, as Snake Plissken traverses through a treacherous New York landscape with a rogues gallery of criminals who look to leave the island-turned-prison in exchange for the rescue of the captured U.S. President.â€
The team will consist of Mina, warzone journalist framed for murder; Cabbie, a comic relief schizophrenic; Gareth, last surviving member of the President’s security team; and The Brain, Plissken’s former crime partner in a botched robbery.
As for Plissken, the site stated the character’s past will be seen in “brief glimpses throughout the film†to show Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
And no director is attached at this time. So proceed with this rumor with caution.
