The future of the DCEU is looking pretty bright. Aquaman is their highest-grossing film to date, Shazam! looks to be met with a decent amount of enthusiasm, and Wonder Woman 1984 is the follow-up to their sole runaway success of the first phase. Beyond that, we also have Birds of Prey, which is set to include the fan-favorite character of Harley Quinn, and beyond that still, we have James Gunn taking the reins for the Suicide Squad franchise.

So, yeah. As rocky as things have been for the universe up until this point, they have their ducks in a row with things many folks seem to be excited for. However, if you were worried that between Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad that there’d be too much of her, we have a rumor that may put your fears at ease.

Forbes has written up an extensive piece on the DCEU to come, and in the midst of if, they casually threw out a couple details. The main one is that Harley Quinn is not expected to return. No other details were given other than that Gunn was working to reinvent the property. In other Quinn-related properties, the Made Love-style Joker vs. Harley Quinn movie, along with the rumored standalone Joker film, don’t seem to be gaining any momentum.

Let this be a lesson: just because 25 things are in development at a studio doesn’t mean they’ll actually be happening any time soon — or ever. Such is the way of the business. The ideas come in and out, and no one ever knows what’s going to stick. The only thing with Warner Bros. is that they seem to have a whole lotta snitches who reveal things way too early and set random expectations.
