Veteran producer of animated Star Wars content, Dave Filoni is now rumored to be directing episodes of Jon Favreau’s upcoming Live-action Star Wars series. According to the outlet Making Star Wars, Filoni will direct two episodes of the still untitled series. It is also rumored that the show’s first season will consist of 8 episodes.

Filoni is a fan favorite, many have pushed for his promotion to head of Lucasfilm. These hopes were crushed yesterday as we learned that Emperor Kennedy has extended her contract for three more years.
If this rumor about Filoni directing turns out to be true, and to be honest it is probably one of the more plausible Star Wars rumors we have heard, making the move from animation to live-action is really a great career move for Filoni, and in the long run be great for us fans. He has more than proven his skills with Star Wars Rebels and The Clone Wars.
Favreau’s series will be fans’ first taste of live-action Star Wars content on a platform other than film, which we all know can and usually does provide for more in-depth storytelling. The series will be set seven years after the events of The Battle of Endor.
