A very recent rumor that DC Studios were unhappy with the Superman trailer cut has been partially confirmed by James Gunn. The rumor was begun by @Danimalish on X. Check out what he had to say initially about the Superman trailer.
To clarify, since every trailer necessitates multiple cuts, apparently the editor cutting the trailer presented a fairly finalized version to the studio weeks ago. The studio wasn't happy and said "Make it better". I wouldn't want to be a part of the marketing department over…

Now James Gunn has come out with a reply on Threads to confirm some of the details above. Namely that DC Studio executives (Gunn himself) did request a new cut of the trailer. He indeed was unhappy with the initial cut. However Gunn explains this is really no different than the process he’s gone through on all his recent movies. Here’s the quote.
“Well sort of. But when he says “studio” that’s solely me, as the only studio involved in cutting or anything to do with the trailer is DC Studios i.e. me & Peter (& I’m the creatively demanding one). This is the exact same rigorous process I’ve gone through cutting every Guardians trailer, pushing the marketing folks as hard as I can, cutting & recutting until I think we have something worthy of the film itself. All that said, my notes are a lot more specific than “make it better.””

Mystery solved I guess?
Superman an important trailer for the new DCU. I can totally understand Gunn wanting to make sure the first trailer ignites excitement from the fans. All in all, it just sounds like some back and forth, as per usual in this situation. Clearly the plan is to release that trailer soon. Rumor is we should have it before Christmas. However, only when Gunn says yes to a cut he’s happy with.
What do you think of this story as the rumor DC Studios is unhappy with the Superman trailer cut is partially confirmed by James Gunn himself? Leave anything below as usual.
