We try our best to deliver the most accurate news we can, but some rumors are too tasty to pass up. Take this rumor with a grain or two of salt…
We all know that Marvel is working on a Black Widow film and we’ve heard it will cover both a young Natalia “Natasha” Romanoff and her adventures before joining the Avengers. Now we have a rumor, provided to We Got This Covered by a “trusted” source, that none other than Taskmaster will be appearing in the film.
If you don’t know who Taskmaster is you’ve been missing out on one of Marvel’s best villains. Created in 1980 by David Michelinie and George Pérez, Tony Masters is gifted with the ability to mimic anything he sees. Well, physically anything he sees, but he does not absorb or use other characters powers. He can mimic the way Hawkeye fires his bow, the way Iron Fist fights, and the way Spider-Man moves. He uses gadgets and weapons to further his lethality. He is normally a bad buy but has spent time helping the heroes of Marvel out as part of the Thunderbolts team.
Taskmaster appeared as a villain in the incredibly fun Spider-Man game for the PlayStation 4. He gives spiderman tasks to complete and villains to defeat while occasionally jumping Spidey himself. It was one of my favorite surprises in that game and several of the tasks are incredibly challenging.
Before the dark times, before the Marvel/Netflix union dissolved, I had hopes that Taskmaster would appear as a lead villain for Moon Knight. He would fit in perfectly with the world created by Daredevil and the other heroes. While I am happy to see him get used, I really wanted a mature rated take on him. The amount of violence in a Moon Knight show with Taskmaster would rival The Punisher and be oh… so… good!
