Rumor: Flash To Reset Justice League And Feature Aquaman vs Wonder Woman Fight?

It feels like the gestation period for The Flash is endless at this point. Justice League was our first introduction to Ezra Miller’s version of Barry Allen — though, he did appear extremely briefly in Batman v Superman. I remember at the time thinking that Flash, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman should have had their solo movies first before the team-up movie. DC, however, chose a different route though and the rest, as they say, is box office mediocrity.

Since Justice League, we seem to have waited forever for a solo Flash movie. There have been many different directors attached to this movie already. One would also assume the script has gone through many alternative versions. However, one thing that appears to have remained most consistent is the potential adaptation of the ‘Flashpoint’ storyline. I’ll get to that more after the news.

Recently, scooper Grace Randolph revealed that her sources indicate some very specific plot points for The Flash. Check out the post on social media below.

Now, whilst we cannot say how genuine this is (no scooper is ever right all the time), maybe we can say it feels right? For some time, my colleagues and I here at LRM have talked about The Flash. Many of us felt this could be used as a great way to ‘reset’ the universe, so to speak. In other words, erase that awful Justice League movie from canon. That’s why the Flashpoint story has always felt natural.

If this movie does cover Flashpoint, it’s an opportunity to mess with time and reset some events. Flashpoint, in its many forms, covers Flash going back in time to change his past. The results are rarely what he hoped. In most versions, Barry then has to reset what he had done to try and fix the timeline. This usually wouldn’t mean Batman suddenly becoming 20 years younger though. However, I’m sure they could find a way to explain the difference between Ben Affleck and Robert Pattinson. It’s a comic book movie, after all.

What is interesting is the suggestion that this movie will feature Aquaman vs Wonder Woman. The version of Flashpoint most in my head now is the quite recent animated movie. Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox featured its own take on the classic Flashpoint story. In this version, the nations of Atlantis and Amazon were in a deadly war while humanity was caught in the middle. This war was set to engulf the whole world as Arthur Curry and Diana go at one another. The movie also featured Thomas Wayne as a gun-toting Batman, something that’s been rumored for this movie too? I wonder if this movie was used as inspiration?

It’ll be interesting to see how they use this to change the DCEU if the rumor checks out. The Flash is due on July 1st, 2022 from Director Andres Muschietti.
