The future over at Marvel Studios for Guardians of the Galaxy writer-director James Gunn is still up in the air. As far as we can tell, Disney and Gunn are in the midst of figuring out the specifics of his overall involvement in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, whether or not his script will be used, and any other dangling details left on the table. But where does Marvel Studios’ head honcho stand?
According to Jeremy Conrad over at MCU Cosmic, Kevin Feige is “fighting on the inside” for “Gunn’s vision.” Additionally, he is supposedly “livid” about the director’s firing, which makes sense. When news first hit that Gunn would be tossed out, it was Disney’s Alan Horn who made the announcement, not Feige.
Conrad states that Disney doesn’t want anything to do with Gunn, while Marvel Studio’s Kevin Feige is fighting on his behalf. It’s not just because Feige is a cool guy, but also because that script Gunn wrote apparently set up a lot of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the use of some Eternal characters. From what Conrad says, best case scenario is that they keep Gunn’s script.
Of course, this is all hearsay, but it does all seem to fall in line with the things we’ve heard in the past, including details regarding the screenplay and Gunn’s impact on Phase 4.
Do you think Feige’s on the right side of this argument, if true? Let us know your thoughts down below!
