Jim Carrey Says His Dr. Robotnik Will Not Be CGI

Master of facial comedy Jim Carrey will be bringing the villain Robotnik to the big screen in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog adaptation. The character is the antagonist in the video game series. Because of the character’s unusual appearance, many fans wondered exactly how he will be portrayed on screen. While promoting his upcoming Showtime series, Kidding, Carrey revealed some details on the plans for Robotnik.

“It will be live-action.”

As I mentioned before, with Robotnik’s appearance, a live-action representation won’t be easy, when asked how this will be accomplished Carrey said

“Magic! Mixed with desperation.”

Below you can find leaked concept art of Jim Carrey as Dr. Ivo Robotnik, in which you can see both the magic and desperation that Carrey referred to above (of course this isn’t real concept art, I assume most of you are well aware of this, but I had to clarify).

Carrey should be able to have a lot of fun with this role. I can see him taking a little from his Riddler, a little Count Olaf, and perhaps just a smidge of Ace Ventura, mixing all that in with the classic Carrey moves and expressions that made him famous, to bring us what has potential to be his strangest character yet.

How do you feel about Carrey’s Robotnik being live-action? Let us know in the comments down below!
