RUMOR: Marvel Eyeing Bumblebee Helmer For Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

The future of Guardians of the Galaxy is hanging in the balance. When James Gunn’s tweeting history became public knowledge, Disney was quick to give the Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2 writer-direct the chop, in spite of all the work he put in to make these D-list characters household names. But what does this mean for the originally-planned Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which was originally set to hit production early next year?

Well, that’s the $10,000 question, now, isn’t it? Who else can they hire who can really bring in the heart and joy that the series is known for? My mind went to an obvious name in Brad Bird, but who knows who Marvel Studios and the House of Mouse are looking at? Well, we may have an idea, thanks to the folks over at The DisInsider.

According to one of their sources, one man being looked at is Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee helmer Travis Knight. It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time he’s been looked at for a Marvel film. Before Chloe Zhao locked down The Eternals, Knight was one of the directors being looked at for that particular picture.

His work on Bumblebee has looked promising so far, and if he truly does succeed in bringing much-needed heart into that series, one can imagine what he could do for the already-heartfelt Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Personally, I think it’s an inspired choice, but we’ll have to see if this ends up being true first.

But what do you think? Should Travis Knight direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Let us know your thoughts down below!
