Rumor: Marvel’s Shang-Chi To Introduce Super Spies – Plus Eternals Star Has Advice For Simu Liu

Shang-Chi Images Leaks SPOIL A Cameo Appearance

Lately, I have heard and shared lot of news come out regarding Marvel’s current slate of movies. However, the movie we have heard the least gossip on is Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Saying that, most of the main cast were pretty much all announced very early on. Perhaps there has been less to say about it as a result?

However, today we do have a Shang-Chi rumor and it comes from regular scooper Charles Murphy over at Murphy’s Multiverse. Murphy says that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will introduce super spies into the MCU for the first time. The characters who apparently work for MI-6 (The British Foreign Intelligence Service) are Leiko Wu, Clive Reston, and Black Jack Tarr. MI-6 played a major part in the ‘Master of Kung Fu’ comics upon which Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is based.

In the comics Shang-Chi after understanding the nature of his father, (international terrorist Fu Manchu) joins up with MI-6 to fight against his father. It is said that the film will explore a Shang-Chi who has previously worked for MI-6, but has moved on from that spy world. I assume something will, of course, drag him back into that life again in the movie. Interestingly Leiko Wu had a romantic relationship with Shang-Chi in the comics. This means there could be some drama around that relationship in the movie. Especially as in the comics, Wu ends up marrying Clive Reston, despite still having feelings for Shang-Chi.

Rumor is that these roles in the movie have already been filled, but the outlet could get no confirmation on the actors that have been cast as yet.

As for Shang- Chi lead actor Simu Liu, he was given some advice from Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani. Nanjiani said this in a recent interview with etalk.

“Well, Simu was already in really good shape. Not that I wasn’t- Simu is already in great shape, and he’s going to get in better shape. We met him, we met him at Comic-Con, he was very, very nice. I would suggest, have fun, just enjoy it. It can be very hard when you’re doing a big thing like that to really like- you want to focus, but it can be hard to sometimes not enjoy it while you’re doing it. So that would be my advice to him, just have fun.”

Considering how big the Chinese market is now, I’ll guess Shang-Chi is going to become a major player in the MCU going forward. I just hope they pick the correct fight choreography team. For me, a kung fu movie lives and dies by how good the fight scenes are.
