RUMOR: Next Star Wars Game Could Hit As Soon As Next Year — What Could It Be?

Cameron Monaghan, Cal Kestis Actor Teases Live-Action Star Wars Discussions

Star Wars fans were chomping at the bit for the longest time for a new video game. When Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order finally hit, it actually felt as though they were sated. That being said, you’d think with a dev like Electronic Arts behind the franchise that they’d be able to put out non-Battlefront games with some regularity. But alas, it’s taken a New York minute for Fallen Order to hit, hinting at longer wait times between games…but is that actually the case?

Well, it sounds like we won’t have to wait nearly as long for another one. This rumor comes courtesy of Bespin Bulletin. As with all rumors, this should be taken with a grain of salt, but keep in mind that they claim this comes from multiple sources, so that’s usually grounds for just a tad bit more credibility.

According to the Instagram fan account, we can expect the next video game in the Fall of 2021. He also states that the sources come from EA Motives, a dev that hasn’t released their own game yet but helped out with Anthem and Battlefront II. But what can this game actually be? Would it be another Battlefront game?

The account doesn’t think so. As of right now, they see nothing that indicates anything is in motion. Plus, they claim that developer DICE are utilizing a new strategy, where they support a game for longer, rather than releasing a full one every couple of years. That being said, with Disney and EA’s deal running out in 2023, it is likely we’d get one before that date is up.

That being said, Disney and EA could re-up their deal for more Star Wars games. Fans may have spent the last few years b**ching up a storm about every aspect of EA’s strategy, but the reality is that the two Battlefront games sold over 33 million copies total and Jedi: Fallen Order is expected to break 10 million. Complaints aside, it’s hard to argue with results like that.
