It’s 2019, and with 2020 only featuring two Marvel movies, it’s hard not to look to the future of the franchise — the Disney+ shows. Next year, a new era will begin for Marvel Studios, and for the first time, they will start releasing full series that integrate entirely into the MCU. The series that is set to kick that all off is The Falcon and Winter Soldier, which will feature those two heroes picking up the mantle for Cap following the events in Avengers: Endgame.

But what can we expect in terms of the actual story? That still remains to be seen. Now, we have a new rumor about what that could be, courtesy of HN Entertainment. According to them, the duo will be going up against “some sort of massive viral threat.”

While they don’t have any specific details, they do point to something like Virus X or Madbomb as possibilities. Madbomb is especially interesting, since that would have been the route the Russo Brothers went for Captain America: Civil War if Robert Downey Jr. hadn’t been on board. The story would have featured a bomb that made people go crazy.

Of course, that part’s all speculation, and the only rumored bit is that they will be dealing with a viral threat, so it could be anything.

As with all rumors, take this with a grain of salt, but with the show just starting up production, it’s not completely crazy to think some story details could have been leaked.
