Sometimes I feel like I’m alone on a lot of things in the filmsphere. When word hit that director Josh Boone was going to make The New Mutants a more horror-centric tale, I was immediately sold. Sure, it wasn’t exactly what most think of when they think of the comic, but it was something new in this increasingly-saturated world of superhero films, so I was all for it. And when the trailer hit, I was all the more excited.

But the film has been delayed a couple times since then, with there being plenty of rumors that the studio and Boone weren’t exactly seeing eye to eye. These were later denied by all involved, but there was still the reality to deal with that the film seemed to be constantly getting pushed back. Now, there are some rumors pointing to more potential issues.

Twitter user Scott Bechtel claims to have heard new rumors regarding the upcoming film, saying:

“Just heard a whisper through the grapevine. #newmutants will be delayed again. Fox & Boone are really struggling coming to terms on a comprehensible and finish product. They’re looking to release it in early November. But…”

“Fox is still toying with a Hulu release in October for #newmutants. They’re trying to decide which method would have a more returnable value for an otherwise dead on arrival film.”

So who is this guy? Well, he’s just a fan with a podcast, so there’s no reason to think he’s credible. That being said, based on his tweets, it doesn’t really seem he’s out to make himself internet famous off this whole deal, so I figured it was at least worth sharing.

Given that other rumors point to Disney sort of cleaning house with their Marvel properties licensed by Fox, this isn’t completely crazy, especially if the movie isn’t considered good by the Fox brass.
