Today we have the rumored reason Morbius was delayed from ViewerAnon. The insider has been pretty consistent in the past and as you can see below they have heard a reason Morbius was delayed. Nope, it was not to insert Andrew Garfield as some have suggested, the movie was finished some time ago, so I never bought that one. Here is what ViewerAnon says.
“fwiw, I asked a friend at Sony about MORBIUS’ delay and he swears it’s because NO WAY HOME overperformed (and is continuing to perform) so much that shifting MORBIUS to the next quarter makes things look better on company balance sheets.”

I did struggle to think of a reason. Why Sony would not want to ‘ride the NWH train’ through into Morbius? However if this is as simple as a bit of accountancy it does actually make sense.

The Omicron spike, originally suggested by some as the reason for the delay, does not seem to be hurting No Way Home. Therefore, what other reason could there be? I get the feeling that No Way Home has made enough money (and projected to make more) that Sony can call 2021 profitable. The thing is, Morbius has been delayed so many times already it’s scary.
Fun fact: The first teaser for Morbius was released before Spider-Man: No Way Home began filming. That puts into context just how much Morbius has been delayed already. Honestly with the hype surrounding No Way Home I think Sony should have dropped Morbius in November. But if the Sony investors are happier with some nice profits across a different financial year? Who am I to argue?
